Summary
Goondi lies three miles west of Innisfail on the bank of the Johnstone River and is the site where, in 1884, the Commonwealth Sugar Refining Company established its second mill in north Queensland.
The Goondi School of Arts was established in the 1930s. The archive includes correspondence, from ca. January 1948, numerous bundles and folders. Also minutes of meetings, presidents' reports, financial statements, bank account books, cash books, ledgers, cash receipt books, cheque butts, invoices and receipts, library catalogues and details of School of Arts regulations, ca.1943-1973. The most significant items in these records are the three minute books covering the years 1936 -1973.
The documents were donated by the manager of the Goondi Mill in 1974.
