About NQHeritage
NQHeritage@JCU is the online repository of James Cook University Library’s Special Collections. The repository brings people closer to our rare and fragile collections, providing online access to a growing selection of items that are culturally and historically significant to North Queensland and the Tropics.
Launched in 2015, NQHeritage shines a spotlight on unique materials that have been collected and curated by Special Collections since the late 1960s. With a focus on James Cook University’s major teaching and research themes of People, Societies, Industries and Economies in the Tropics, as well as Tropical Ecosystems and Health and Medicine, NQHeritage upholds a commitment to the advancement of North Queensland through the digitisation and preservation of the JCU Library Special Collections.
In 2020, NQHeritage celebrates JCU’s 50th Birthday with the release of 50 Treasures from the Special Collections. These Treasures include albums, manuscripts, artworks, books, diaries and artefacts that showcase our most unique, inspirational and historical resources.
