Summary
Born in Sydney in 1968, Lucy T. Smith moved to Townsville in the 1990s where she attained Bachelor and Master Degrees from James Cook University. Having lectured and tutored at JCU and the Open College of the Arts, Queensland, Smith subsequently gained work as a freelance botanical illustrator and teacher of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London, and as a teacher at the Chelsea School of Botanical Art. As well as being the recipient of several prestigious awards, her works have been exhibited in several locations in Australia, England and Germany, and numerous scientific books and journals have used Smith’s scientific illustrations.
