Summary
Salvador Torrents was born in Mataro, Catalonia, Spain in 1885. He was involved in political activity as an anarchist from an early age. In 1909 he was obliged to leave Spain for France because of this activity and moved between Spain and France several times over the next few years. He came to Australia in 1915 with his wife and daughter. They travelled to Innisfail where they took up cane-growing land. In 1918 they purchased 60 acres of land at Mena Creek where they remained for the rest of their lives.
This collection includes some of Torrents' important personal documents and writings as well as many mementos and personal items. A collection of books was also donated at the same time as this archival collection.
