Summary
Don Johnson (died 24 December 1992) was an author, historian and artist with a great knowledge of the history of the Charters Towers goldfields. As a mining consultant, Johnson provided mining companies with a record of mines' past operations.
The collection consists of various records relating to mining activities in the Charters Towers region from the District Geologist's Office (1888-1944 photocopies). There are Annual reports (1952-1982), and monthly reports (1952-1971) from the Mining Warden's Office, Charters Towers, and copies of various ephemeral materials relating to Charters Towers collected by Johnson.
Special Collection items may be used on the Library premises by visiting the appropriate Reading Rooms during opening hours. Digital copies of selected items from this Archive will be made available through the repository as copyright or other restrictions allow.
