Summary
The Atherton and Cook families were successful pioneering families of North Queensland from the mid 19th to the mid 20th centuries. The families united with the marriage of Albert A. Cook and Althea Atherton in 1908. Althea Atherton's father was Richard Atherton, the brother of John Atherton after which the Atherton Tablelands was named.
The Archive consists of a variety of personal documents belonging to Althea Atherton, including letters, photographs, and her diary.
Special Collection items may be used on the Library premises by visiting the appropriate Reading Rooms during opening hours. Digital copies of selected items from this Archive will be made available through the repository as copyright or other restrictions allow.
The Atherton-Cook Album is located in the NQ Photographic Collection.
