Summary
Elaine Acworth studied in London then worked with several theatre companies, including as an actor and director, before turning to writing. She returned to Australia in 1991 and worked with the New Writing Programme at the Queensland Theatre Company (QTC). Acworth was commissioned by the QTC and Australia Council to write a play, and the result, Composing Venus, won the 1993 QTC/Courier Mail George Landen Dann award for Queensland playwrights. The play is set in Charters Towers in 1957.
